Good Morning

Hope to see everyone on Sunday.  Don't forget to get your book.

Today's Scripture

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnessess, let us throw off everything that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfected of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Today's prayer requests:      For the residents of Letson Farms

Uneasiness and concern over the events of last Sunday night are still on everyone's minds.  Need to pray for all the residents of the area to have peace, and for the well-being of the couple who were at the center of the attempted robbery and shooting. The husband who was shot had surgery on his hand on Thursday.

Good Morning

Today's Scripture

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.  Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.  Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

 Romans 6:11-14

Today's prayer requests:     For our security forces here and in the UK

News is breaking this morning about a terrorist plot to blow up several planes, and that it appears to have been thwarted.  We need to pray that those police and other security forces are successful in preventing this potential tragedy.

Good Morning

Today's Scripture

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritural forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ephesians 6:10-13

Good Morning

Today's Scripture

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, it always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails.

 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Today's prayer requests:    Megan's friend Kayla.

Kayla is expecting, but also has a growth on her throat that is concerning her doctors and will likely need to be removed.  However, Kayla is in her first trimester, so the any treatment options are going to be limited and difficult.

Good Morning

Today's Scripture

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.  Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.  Live in harmony with one another.  Do not be proud, but be willing to assoiciate with people of low position.  Do not be conceited.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Romans 12:14-18

Today's prayer requests:    Email request from Nicole

Last night at 9:44 I awoke to a loud slam and a minute later I heard someone running outside. When the footsteps stopped, a man began screaming. By this time I was on the phone with a 911 lady. Within 3-5 minutes of hanging up with her, the first police car pulled up outside my house and it wasn't long before police were all over the neighborhood (they must have received several calls). I went outside to talk to the police and eventually, it seemed everyone in the neighborhood was outside. The last I heard before returning indoors at around 12:45 was that a couple, 3 houses up from me, had just moved in. They had left their house (I hear, only momentarily), and upon their return, there was a man in their back yard with a gun. He robbed the couple and the man who lives there was shot in the hand. He was taken to UAB. The footsteps I heard were from the perpetrator who left on foot (his hat was found just off my front curb). The perpetrator had not been caught as of last night. My prayer request is for the couple: that the man who was shot is ok and that they will be comforted. Also that the guy will be caught. Everyone I spoke to last night was really shaken (children and adults). I know that it really affected me. It would be a nice thing to pray for peace, comfort, safety, and anything else that anyone in the neighborhood might need.
Forgive me for being long-winded; I was unable to sleep and I am not the most brilliant when that is the case.  ( I do think ADT and other alarm system places will be getting a great deal of business ;)
