Good Morning!

Hope to see everyone on Sunday -- we'll have books, etc to begin our Narnia study.

Today's Scriptures:

Some verses in honor of Veterans' Day

He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples.  They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.  Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Isaiah 2:4

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.

Psalm 33:12

Today's prayer request:   Our veterans

At our church, we are surrounded by veterans -- some who went to WW II and fought in Germany 60 years ago, and some like Jay Micheal, who was in Iraq this time last year.  And of course, we as a country have thousands of men and women overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places in constant danger.  We need to give thanks for all who have sacrificed to protect our country.

Good Morning!

Today's Scriptures:

Four verses from Hebrews today:

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Hebrews 10:24-25

Keep your life free from the love of money and be content with what you have.

Hebrews 13:5

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority.  They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.  Obey them so their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage for you.

Hebrews 13:17

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 13:8

Today's prayer request:   Our bosses

Need to pray for those who lead us at work -- the managers, owners, etc. that we work for.  We need to pray that they lead in a manner that is consistent with our faith, and that they do the right things for the right reasons.

Good Morning!

Today's Scriptures:

Five verses from I Peter for encouragement -- very interesting that it worked out that all of the verses I found were verses 8 and 9.

Be self controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith; because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

1 Peter 5:8-9

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

1 Peter 4:8-9

Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.  Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

1 Peter 3:8-9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of hm who called you out of darkness into this wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 1:8-9

Today's prayer request:   Natalee Holloway's family

Yesterday's announcement, seems to me, a sign that her mother and father are never going to move on with their lives until they find out something more about Natalee's disappearance.  And since I'm pessimistic that anything else is ever going to be known, it makes me sad to think of how profoundly sad they are going to be for a long, long time.  My prayer is that they find out as soon as possible what happened to Natalee, so that they can complete their mourning and move on with life.

Good Morning!

Today's Scriptures:

Four verses from II Corinthians for encouragement:

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

2 Corinthians 2:14

Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that outweighs them all.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

2 Corinthians 5:1

And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

2 Corinthians 5:15

Today's prayer request:    Saundra Aaron

Saundra is Valerie's brother's mother-in-law, and she is going through chemo right now to treat breast cancer.  Need to pray for healing and her renewed health, and for support and grace for the entire family.

Good Morning!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Books haven't arrived yet, but should be here in time for this coming Sunday's class.

This past Sunday should be the last Sunday I have to miss for awhile, so that should be good.  Thanks for your patience on that.

Today's Scriptures:

Four verses from Romans for encouragement:

And we know that in all things Gods works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Romans 12:18

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

Today's prayer request:    Our class

We pray for a class member everyday, but we need to pray for our class as prepare to move to a new study.  Pray that we are an encouragement to each other, and that our class grows in love and faithfulness.
