Friday, August 4, 2006 -- new study info

Good Morning

-- I had a couple of very early morning calls for work the last couple of days, so I wasn't able to get the email out.

-- as mentioned last week, I'm out this weekend -- we're going to the beach.

-- along those lines, I wanted to get a feel for what everyone's next couple of weekends are going to be -- we are supposed to start our new study, but I wanted to make sure we started with everyone -- does anyone plan to be out on vacation over the next couple of weekends -- maybe up through Labor Day?  We have the weekends of Aug 12-13, Aug 19-20, Aug 26-27, and Sept 2-3 (Labor Day weekend).

-- also, given the expense of the book, I think everyone is going to need to buy their own book (which will be about $15).   There is one copy I believe in the church library available to check out.  Here is a link to Amazon if you want to order online:

Nicole checked and said that the book is available on Overstock.com as well, at a slightly lower price.  I'm going to order the workbook to see if we will be able to use it/need it, or if we can do the exercises without needing the workbook. I think that if you order today or tomorrow from Amazon, I think you could use the slower but cheaper ground shipping.  I haven't checked Barnes and Noble or Cokesbury, Lifeway, etc, but I imagine that they would have at least one or two copies handy.

-- my thought is that everyone should try to have their book by Sunday, August 13 -- we would start our study then, with the first real class session beginning on August 20th (emails would begin on August 14th) UNLESS we had a bunch of folks out the weekend of August 20th.  So let me know whose planning on being away that weekend, if anyone.

Today's Scripture

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.  Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.   Honor one another above yourselves.  Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.  Share with God's people in need.  Practice hospitality.

Romans 12:9:13

Today's prayer requests:   Don Thaxton, Kelley's husband

Need to continue to remember Kelley's husband Don, who is recovering his auto accident and the resulting surgery.

Today's class member prayer:
